No storage on VM (mandatory) Since the VM units are fixed to the point-of-sale unit, applications should not require data to be stored on, nor itself store data on any VM unit. However applications are still free to pipe graphics onto the VM display during application run-time.
VM Games If you wish to include a mini VM game into your product please contact Sega Europe before doing so as there may be issues involved with this.
Dream On now features support for Windows CE based demos, however there are some important differences in the way these demos are handled.
Ginsu is NOT used as the launch method. So use of the Ginsu.lib and functions are not required.
Demos should be written as essentially standalone applications, which run from an appropriately named subdirectory. ** The 0WINCEOS.BIN image MUST access it’s “autorun” file from an ABSOLUTE path. **
Re-mapping of GDDA audio is NOT possible on WinCE titles. Once your demo is approved, Sega Europe will be able to discuss allocation of audio tracks, if required.
Please see the WinCE example entry in the supplied MENU.CFG, to correctly set up a test bed. Also, please look at the accompanying WinCETest.cfg file for the correct entries in the path and executable fields.
To allow your demo to return seamlessly to the menu system, please link with the exit.lib provided, and call Exit(0); instead of ResetToFirmware() for soft resets, or other “Quit Demo” options.
All other standards for Demo submissions remain the same. Any technical problems can be communicated to Sega Europe DTS at DTS@soe.sega.co.uk
